Public Trust Strategies: Here to help connect courts with the communities they serve

Courts face challenges they weren't designed to communicate their way through. Political polarization. Artificial intelligence. Misinformation. A rapidly changing media landscape. Growing expectations for transparency.  And against all this change, courts are confronting declining public trust and confidence and a growing concern about two systems of justice.

Public Trust Strategies brings a clear-eyed perspective to our communications work with courts, bar associations, civic groups, and funders. We help them address institutional and reputational challenges while equipping judicial and legal leaders to cut through the noise, understand the forces shaping their institutions, and make informed decisions. All of our work is designed around one core principle: enhancing public trust in our courts and in our system of government.

Public Trust Strategies is led by Jesse Rutledge. Most recently, as Vice President of Communications and Public Relations for the National Center for State Courts (NCSC), Rutledge led efforts to strengthen public understanding of the judiciary and advance confidence in courts while serving as a trusted voice on the most consequential issues facing state justice systems. He has worked closely with chief justices, state court administrators, judges, court professionals, and national justice organizations to translate complex issues into clear, accessible information for policymakers, the media, and the public. Some institutions know courts. Some know communications. Public Trust Strategies knows both. It’s all we do.
